Kudat Women's League Seaward Bound |
One day, I said to the Chairlady, "Let's get away from
it all! Let's go to Pulau Banggi ! It's very near Kudat." Cherry agreed.
So Monday saw us Women's League members,
led by Cherry and Sr. Matilda, our advisor, boarding the air-conditioned ferry, Kudat Express.
The one hour-journey
was very comfortable. Soon we arrived at Banggi, an island north of Sabah. Near Banggi, an island appeared from under the
sea, ten years back, but slowly sank back into the seabed again after one year or so. That island, Pulau Hairan, had attracted
tourists and scientists from all over the world.
Bonisia and her colleagues from the Forestry Department met
us, showed us around. Then we followed them on their survey tour to Pulau Laksian in a speedboat.
The speedboat
journey was fantastic! The boat ploughed through the sea with ease and speed; sometimes galloping bringing our hearts to our
mouths. Luckily no one was seasick. We passed so many islands; the most beautiful one was Pulau Timbang Dayang. Soon, we reached
the almost deserted Pulau Laksian. We trekked for fifteen minutes to SRK Laksian. Then the school, with its three wooden long
buildings and its picturesque surrounding, came into sight! We lost no time in snapping shots after shots. After taking group
photo, we went back by speedboat to Kudat. Lunch was a treat by Cherry.
The speed boat journey is truly amazing,
as we were really exposed to the elements; seeing the blue sea, the blue sky merged into one, feeling the cool wind against
our faces and watching the islands passing by!
God is the painter of this beautiful picture! Be thankful that
it is within our reach!
